Never Too Busy for Cake!

Ok, so today's confession is that I (might, kinda) have totally forgotten that once you START a blog, you have to actually KEEP UP with it. The blogger elves do not come at night and post witty things.....(darn...) So, I vow to do better.

Right now, I have time to kill. I have a ridiculous cake cooling in the fridge and if I dont do SOMETHING while I wait, I will surely give into temptation and eat the the whole thing  a small piece before it has even set up. Since I cant eat it yet,but also cant stop thinking about it I will share it here. I stumbled upon the amazing recipe for Banana Pudding Poke cake here at The Country Cook. When you look at it, take a minute to browse her blog, but eat first or it could be dangerous. She had me at Banana-I made it and it was DELICIOUS!!! Easy, inexpensive, and fed a big group (or a small piggy group in my case). A few days after it was gone I was still thinking about it,and wondering what other flavors I could use with the same basic recipe. So today, I have what I am calling "Busy Mom's Strawberry Cheescake" chilling in the fridge. I used strawberry cake mix, cheesecake flavored instant pudding, and crushed graham crackers following the same steps in the recipe from Country Cook. I have high hopes for it, but I will get back to you with official results.

In true busy mom fashion, I have about 752,000 things to accomplish during the coming much too short weekend. One (well, I'm saying it counts as many) of these things is school shopping for D. SCHOOL SHOPPING?? Seriously?? I have said Im totally cool and ready for him to go to kindergarden, but I have still failed to convince myself. I have a feeling the next few months are going to bring majorchanges to our idea of routine, and strangely Im looking forward to that.

Pet Frog

Busy mom. Thats exactly what I am these days......clean house, happy husband, behaved (sometimes)kids, new puppy, school,sports......and thats BEFORE lunch!! The irony of the fact that I started a blog to talk about how I never have a spare second is not lost on me :) But this has been a very eventful year-full of bucket list cross offs - buy a house, deans list at school, get a tattoo, learn to drive a standard, teach my child to read, spend moretime with those I love....So I figured  Iwould pick up one more while I was at it. Multitasking folks!!
Yesterday as I was on the phone with a friend of mine, who is aso the mother of 2 young boys, there was a hilarious moment that made me realize just how hilarious and fleeting life with children is.  In the middle of ourconversation,my friends stops and says "Oh look, theres a dead frog in my refrigerator!!" and then we resumed our conversation as normal. After hanging up it occured to me that there are VERY few situations in life where this is normal acceptable conversation fodder.  But right now, where we stand in life with 2 small mischevious boys, a frogsicle in the fridge is just as common place as a cup of jello. As disgusting as the thought of a dead frog in with your produce is,you have to look beyond the idea and remember that next time you have to hear about the frog the boys will be dissecting it in high school biology.  So today I am trying to remember you are never too busy for the small things.
